One day, a poor boy was trying to pay his way through school by sending newspapers door to door. He was so hungry that he decided to beg for a meal at the next house.

However, he lost his nerve(神经) when a lovely young woman opened the door. Instead of a meal he asked for a drink of water. She thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk. He drank it slowly, and then asked, “how much do I owe(欠) you?”

At last the woman was saved. Dr. Kelly asked the business office to pass the final bill to him. He looked at it and then wrote something on the side. The bill was sent to her room. She was afraid to open it because she was sure that it would take the rest of her life to pay it off. Finally she looked, and the note on the side of the bill caught her attention. Do you know why different animals or pests have their special colours? Colours in them seem to be mainly used to protect themselves .

Some birds like eating locusts(蝗虫), but birds cannot easily catch them. Why ? It is because locusts change their colurs with the changes of the colours of crops .When crops are green , locusts look green .But as the harvest time comes , locusts change into the same brown colour as crops have .Some other pests whose colours are different from plants/ are easily found and eaten by others .So they have to hide themselves for lives and appear only at night .
